A day for dads

It's Father's Day on the Internet. Check  Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other of a gazillion social media platforms and you will see photos of dads, grandfathers, and kids. I got to spend the day with some of my favorite MN dads and kiddos.

Tanner woke up to a Father's Day gift that toasts his bread
with a Packers' logo.  How cool is that?

Charlie had fun snuggling up to his two bear cubs.

We didn't get to see Evan today, but here he is playing
in the sand with the chicas on a beach trip last week.

We had a great time in Owatonna, with entertainment provided by four little boys. Here they are taking turns riding their bikes up a ramp, with Tanner as chaperone and traffic supervisor.

Water squirters kept everyone busy for a good part of the afternoon. The boys squirted each other, shot water high in the air to imitate fireworks, marched in a water squirter parade, and sang the Star Spangled Banner together with squirters full of water and ready to go as soon as the flag waved over the land of the freee-eeee and the home of the brave.

It's getting close to the 4th of July, and these guys are ready.

Eating was on the agenda, of course. Dessert tastes good outside on the patio.

Here are the MN dads, all in a row.

Hannah comes in third!

Winter weather conditions played a part in the late finish for Hannah and her school friends, who had snow and ice days to make up before getting their start on summer vacation. Second grade is a memory for Hannah, who is moving up to third grade in the fall. Way to go, H!! V is obviously delighted for her sister's accomplishment.

P.S.
I worked on a pun to use as an alternate title for this post, but I couldn't decide between these two. I've included my reasoning for each one, in case I forget when I read this again a year from now.

1. The first shall be last: "First" refers to Hannah as oldest cousin; "third" refers to her finishing last among the cousins who go to school.

2. The second shall be third: "Second" refers to Hannah being in second grade, and "third" that she's going to be in third grade.

Happy belated birthday to Hannah

Happy Birthday, Hannah!  I'm sorry I didn't get this posted for your birthday---where was my brain that day?? We love you lots and lots, and are in disbelief that you are 8 years old already!

Owen and Ethan tie for second!

Ethan and Owen finished a strong second among the cousins who are in school. As of June 4 (today), kindergarten days are a thing of the past for these boys, who are ready to go on to first grade. Hurray!

Miles finishes first!

Yup, Miles finished first... first grade, and first of the cousins to end the school year. His last official day was June 3, and now he's moving on up to second grade. Congratulations, Miles! So sweet of Westy to support you on your last day!
